Grace W. Edwards, a lifelong resident and respected businesswoman of Tarboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday evening April 9, 2018. She was born October 28, 1934 to Harry Skinner White and Ethel Bass Cherry White. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Spencer Lee Edwards; son Stephen “Steve” Lee Edwards; sisters, Dorothy Kornegay and Ann White; and brother, Brookes White.

She is survived by daughter-in-law Karen K. Edwards; grandsons, Stephen Edwards and fiance Casey Tang, and Michael Edwards and wife Coty; great-grandsons, Damien Edwards and Spencer Edwards; nieces, Susan Aycock and husband Ben, Terry Kornegay, and Beth Martin and husband Keith; a great niece, Elizabeth; and three great-nephews, Rob, Curt, and Drew.

She, together with Spencer, served the community of Tarboro for many years as owners of Video TV Appliance Center on Main Street, and both were faithful members of St. James United Methodist Church serving in many capacities over the years. Singing in the choir gave her great joy. Dearest to her heart were “our boys” as she called her grandsons. She was indeed a kind and gracious woman.

The family welcomes friends Friday evening, April 13, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at Carlisle Funeral Home. Our service to celebrate Grace will be held at 11:00am on Saturday at St. James United Methodist Church, Tarboro with the Rev. Nathan Whitman officiating. A private internment will take place at Edgecombe Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift to St. James United Methodist Church, 211 E St James St, Tarboro, NC 27886, or the Edgecombe County Veteran’s Museum, 106 W Church St, Tarboro, NC 27886 would be greatly appreciated.
